The 4th October 2025 is a date that many will remember. In Lillestrom, Norway, multiple time World Champion Cecilia Braekhus would fight her farewell contest against our Ema Kozin for the WBC and WBO Super Welterweight World Titles.

The “First Lady” Braekhus with 41 professional fights experience who remained undefeated for 12 years, while holding the WBC and WBA welterweight titles for a Guinness World Record of 11 years and 154 days between 14 March 2009 and 15 August 15 2020 would need to draw on all her experience against Ema whose only loss was against multiple time and division World Champion Claressa Shields in 2022.

In excess of 3,000 fans in attendance were treated to a spectacle of quality boxing from both warriors. Eventually, after 10 gruelling rounds Braekhus came away with a unanimous decision. After her victory and last fight going into retirement Braekhus said “I want to thank the boxing community all over the world, my friends in England, L.A., everyone. I’m so happy,”

The Norwegian governing body relayed to Slovenia Proboxing Association Chief Operating Officer Hinko Kostanjevec that Ema was a warrior who dug deep against an exceptionally experienced fighter. She has a good future ahead of her.

Hinko Kostanjevec said “seeing Ema again on the world stage was another example of the power of our Slovenian athletes. Without question Ema did Slovenia boxing and herself proud with her effort and being selected as the final bout for a legend of female boxing Cecilia Braekhus”.

President of the Slovenia Proboxing Association and former four-time World Champion Dejan Zavec said “Ema is first name in female boxing in Slovenia. Despite missing the win, Ema put in a great effort and some excellent moments in the fight against a true legend. Ema showed that in the future she will become a significant boxer on the world stage”.

There is no question that Slovenia will see Ema on the world stage again….which we are excited.
