From December 8 to December 14, 2024, Dejan Zavec, President of the Slovenian Professional Boxing Association (SPA), had the distinct honor of attending the prestigious 62nd Annual Convention of the World Boxing Council (WBC) held in the vibrant city of Hamburg, Germany.

This event, renowned for bringing together the most influential figures in the boxing world, was not only a series of official meetings and workshops but also an invaluable opportunity for Dejan to expand the SPA professional network and cultivate new relationships within the sport.

Throughout the week, Dejan actively participated in a variety of discussions and panels, engaging with a diverse array of prominent figures in the boxing community. He had the chance to meet with leading promoters, esteemed WBC officials, and high-profile champions, all of whom share a common passion for the sport. These interactions were not merely casual exchanges; they were strategic conversations aimed at promoting professional boxing in Slovenia and highlighting the SPA’s on going efforts to elevate the sport within the country.  

Dejan’s commitment to advancing boxing in Slovenia was evident as he articulated the unique challenges and opportunities facing the sport in Slovenia. The SPA’s presence at the Convention was met with enthusiasm and appreciation from attendees, which underscored the organization’s growing influence and reputation on the international stage. As a result of these fruitful interactions, Dejan received several invitations for follow-up meetings and collaborations after the Convention, indicating a strong interest in furthering discussions about potential partnerships and initiatives that could benefit professional boxing in Slovenia. Overall, the experience at the WBC Annual Convention not only reinforced Dejan’s role as a key player in the boxing community but also positioned the SPA for future growth and success in promoting the sport.
